FAQ: What’s the Required Software to Run WAM?

by | Last updated 2023.07.25 | Published on 2019.05.08 | Blog

Windows Server Update Services (WSUS) is mandatory for many companies but can be frustrating and complicated to manage. WAM is a fully automated software solution that can index the WSUS database, remove declined updates and drivers, clean synchronization logs and compress update revisions.

To work properly and avoid any issues, it’s important that you have the required software already installed prior to running to WSUS. This includes PowerShell 4.0+ and SQL Server Management Studio.

Before running WSUS for the first time, please double check the system requirements for your specific setup. We’ve outlined what’s needed for every configuration of Windows.

Often times, if a customer has an issue running WAM, they’re just missing the required software. It’s also worth mentioning that it could take hours for the First Run, which is completely normal. Just let WAM work in the background and wait for the emailed report after the software has successfully finished.

If you’re still running into problems after downloading the required software and waiting for the First Run to complete, WAM comes with integrated support. Simply open a ticket and we’ll be happy to work through any issues you’re experiencing.

WAM is available for extremely affordable and available for online purchase by credit card or Bitcoin. A yearly license is only $90 USD and you’ll save hours of time on maintenance.
