We are excited to announce that we have added Bitcoin as a payment option for WAM. As a growing number of our customers have expressed an interest in using cryptocurrency, we wanted to make sure that we could offer this convenient and secure payment option to all our users. Now, you can easily pay with Bitcoin!

There’s no need for a traditional bank account or credit card. We believe that this new payment option will make it easier for our customers to access our services, and we’re committed to making sure that everyone has a positive experience with WAM, from the moment of purchase to set up and configuration to daily use and renewal.

Now you have more ways to pay!

Previously, we only had the option to pay for WAM by credit card. But now, when you purchase WAM for the first time or renew your subscription, you now have 2 options:

  1. Pay with Bitcoin
  2. Pay with a Credit Card

Paying with Bitcoin is a secure and fast way to pay online, wherever you are in the world. However you pay, both methods are easy and convenient, making it simple to renew your annual subscription.

How Many WAM Licenses Do I Need?

You can pay for multiple licenses at once. In fact, you might need several WAM licenses depending on your setup. We’ve got some examples of various scenarios below, but you can learn more about how many licenses you might need in other cases here.

Single/Upstream

This is the basic WAM license. This is the only license you need for one WSUS server.

Downstream/Disconnected Downstream

You may need to get additional Downstream or Disconnected Downstream WAM licenses.

For example:

  • Replica Server/Centralized Administration System – An upstream server receives the updates from Microsoft and passes on updates, approval statuses, and computer groups with the downstream server.
    • Single/Upstream License + Downstream License
  • Downstream Autonomous Server/Distributed Administration System – An upstream WSUS server shares updates with downstream servers during synchronization but doesn’t send update approval statuses or computer group info.
      • Single/Upstream License + Downstream Licences for each downstream autonomous server
  • Disconnected Networks with Online Staging Servers
    • Single/Upstream License for each online WSUS staging server + Disconnected Downstream License for each disconnected WSUS server you export to.

We offer volume discounts for bulk purchases. If you require 50 or more licenses for a single order, contact us for a custom quote.

How Long Does it Take for WAM to Clean WSUS?

WAM can clear WSUS in under 72 hours on most new systems. But, some older systems with slower processing power might take a bit longer. Older hardware, like 2010-2012 systems, can really slow things down. It could even take days to remove obsolete updates. The great thing about WAM, though, is that you can just let the software run in the background.

If you’re ever worried about the time it’s taking WAM to clean WSUS, you can check the progress using SQL Server Management Studio and connecting to the Windows Internal Database. If you need more guidance on this, read the instructions here.

Pay for WAM, Buy More Time

Whichever payment method you choose, WAM basically pays for itself. It frees up so much of your time to do other, more important things. If you have more questions about WAM, feel free to contact us.
